ANTI-SEMITISM

POR Erica Zeman

What role can non-Jewish communities play in combating Anti-Semitism and promoting tolerance?

The questions at hand need to be analysed from several layers in the hope to come close to answer them. I shifted these questions slightly in order to give them a focus point, which are:

Who is your refuge? Of whom do you hope to be a refuge?

Throughout history, the Jewish people and the (reborn) State of Israel was brought to the centre of attention, so that non-Jewish people, nations and communities could choose between abundance of life or succumbence to tyrants. Every generation and European nation gained its own identity with the assistance of Jewish influence, be it in art, literature, history, technology, medicine and law and various other fields.

The choice was and is either to support the Jewish communities and Israel as the light bearing country from whom salvation, the place from which the rescue of mankind has been offered a multitude of times, or to follow a fatalistic ideology in agreement with terrorists to carry out violence, destruction and massacres as we have seen only recently in Australia on the 14th December 2025, the USA, a New York Jewish man stabbed on the 17th Dec.2025, and Israel on the 7th October 2023.

Here in the U.K. people’s sense of being a nation and a community has dwindled over the last 10-15 years due to the general fragmentation of societies. The struggle to survive on a daily basis in cities like London, Manchester and Birmingham is an increasing worrying situation for the public. For many people Israel is a clear voice and legitimate State, these groups seek to understand its complexity and purpose.  For others, Israel is even less on the priority list then before, because this group of people see the country as too small, too ambitious and too self-assured. Envy towards Israel and the Jewish people is an unconscious root for antisemitism. Then there are the people, who sell themselves to be paid by Hamas supporters for joining a ‘Free Palestine ‘March. Mimicking the shouts of Antisemitic slurs and hatred submissively and obediently without any question asked, pays well for several of these participants.

Whom do you serve?

Israel thrives with thinking people and enjoys academic accomplishments.

One Antisemitic Muslim preacher in Australia claimed that Islam hates thinking men and those who sit on their couches are not seen as true followers of Allah, only those who are ‘active’ are on his path, which is very appealing for young people’s mood for action after so many years of being muzzled by political correctness. Most likely unbeknown to them, these followers are called the ‘useful idiots’ by Hezbollah and Hamas. Greta Thunberg is the epitome of their ‘fans’. Western Universities are criticised to be Islamophobic if lecturers question Islamic theology and practice.

Islamic terrorists assume that the plurality of West European communities assure their ‘credibility’ in the process of gaining political momentum. This strategy appears to be a methodical success only due to the abuse of many people’s naivety. The wedge between historic Western academic discourse and students has fallen with the support of European governments shielding Muslims in their ‘cultural Jihad’.

According to Dr.Charles Asher Small, Europe has been  financially supported in Universities from Qatar on the condition to infiltrate Western culture with Islamic teachings and political benefits.

Western Europe is a media saturated society, who has lost to a large degree it’s skill and willingness to define, analyse, discuss and act face to face beyond the permitted political framework. In my own circle of club members, I met people who were entirely ignorant of Israel’s crisis during the Hamas massacre in October 2023. People with their own difficult lives and unwillingness to be informed about Israel’s truthful intensions and safety needs see Israel as too insignificant to be in the position of a world mover. And Israel is moving this world regardless of either being loved or hated.

Spreading the truth about Israel in conversations all stamina to do so is required. An emotional based non-Jewish community is pounded daily on how everyone is ‘feeling’, and that all ‘all faith’s’ are equal ‘This line of thoughts is a strategic abuse of Western Governments and ‘cultural Jihadists.’ Therefore, as a start in phone calls, letters, emails, reels, Facebook the message needs to question Antisemitism in short and precise sentences. It is surprising to see in fact the vast number of people corresponding with Israel supporters in groups offering a volunteering source of information.

Present Europe is a society which on the one hand can endure the Ukrainian war, yet on the other hand is enraged to see Israel successful and prosperous even during a war. Conversations which stimulate religious, historic and political questions and information are necessary to activate people’s intellectual capacity. It is also important to show the beauty, strength of character and live in Israel’s citizens, artwork, books, science and landscape so that a natural balance in these conversations encourages more curiosity. It is the persistency and regularity of uploading the web-site, and the quality of face- face conversation with people on behalf of Israel, which can make people rethink their resentful attitude.

With Whom do you share and spread tolerance?

The term ‘tolerance’ has a historic background as the word was linked to put Jewish Communities into a social, geographical and financial straight jacket.

Non-Jewish individuals and groups, who see Israel as a trustworthy State, are most likelymore acquainted with Israel and express greater motivation to be with like-minded people. These people take the time to study Antisemitic tendencies and eruptions in various countries.

One important think tank in this pursuit is the Institute for the Study of Global Antisemitism and Policy, with the before mentioned Dr.Charles Asher Small as founder and Director. During the discussion with Oxford students in this year, he pointed out that Antisemitism is a deeply rooted issue in Western Civilisation, also found in churches, and a subject which people resent to even name. (ISGAP Oxford 2025, Youtube, Globalization and the War Against the Jewish People. Nevertheless, in-spite of the global intensification of Antisemitism we need to look again underneath the jungle to realise the growth of genuine support for Israel, as the European visitors to Israel has increased into the 1.2 million for 2025, coming from Austria, Germany and the Czech Republic. Israeli Ambassador Ron Prosor aided 160 young Germans to be educated in Israel’s history and the Shoah, as over 60% of young adults are ignorant of thesehorrendous event on German and European soil.

Promoting Tolerance

The term tolerance towards the Jewish people has proven to be short lived and has been also at the moment such a change takes place, each person soon or later has to leave the mainstream church historic attitude against Jewish people and the State of Israel. Congregations can experience isolation, disorientation and confusion of purpose, identity and social belonging as a result of standing with Israel. Some non-Jewish congregational members are in fear of becoming too Jewish or foster the fear of being under the demand to convert to Judaism.

Government leaders have been criticised for being too passive, although U.K. Prime Minister announced in October 2025 that an emergency fund of up to £10 million will be granted for the safety of the British Jewish Community. However, the fact that Antisemitic Hamas slogans were screamed out on London’s roads after the massacre against the Jewish Community in Australia in December 14th 2025 proves the point that Jewish communities have to question the Government’s promises for safety as this is not public reality.

The line of thought that only large groups have legitimacy to raise their voice is incorrect, and if non-Jewish community members take the responsibility to pinpoint and combat Antisemitism even as lone individuals then there is enduring hope for the present and future generations in Europe and in Israel.
